I’ve been investigating Wikis at my current job and since I vaguely remembered TiddlyWiki’s name, I decided to check it out. While TiddlyWiki is not something that necessarily works as a shared updateable resource, it is quite possibly THE BEST THING EVER when it comes to keeping track of daily activities, notes on projects, etc. etc. I sincerely wish I had come across it (or it had existed) 5 or 6 years ago.  It is definitely among the top 5 productivity gains that I’ve ever recieved from adopting a new tool (I’ll mention the top 10 in a later post, because no one gets tired of posts about tools, right? ;)). While I know Michael recommends WikidPad, I think TiddlyWiki is better given the ridiculous ease of install, as well as the support for tagging different entries and all the buried features that the TiddlyWiki tutorial goes into depth on.

TiddlyWiki is not a server-side wiki, otherwise it would be ideal for standard wiki use. However, as a simple no-fuss self-writing HTML file, it is amazing. Wiki entries have the ability to be tagged, and then all wiki entries with that tag can be loaded simultaneously. And the UI is slick! I quite like it.

Maybe one day there will be a server side version (and before you point out www.serversidewiki.com, I mean one that I am not eventually paying for on a remote host). Maybe that’s not too bad an idea for a side project…;)

By all means, TiddlyWiki has my highest possible recommendation – my Tiddlywiki file is right up there with Backpack and Airset as my default loaded pages.  And speaking of Airset...
