Lettuce.Arby's Market Fresh Roast Beef and Swiss - A Nutritional Disaster
Tomato.
Shredded turkey breast.
Honey wheat bread.
Swiss cheese.

*720* calories, with *27* grams of fat.

Can *anyone* explain to me why this sandwich is more than 1/3rd of my recommended daily caloric intake??

The Swiss cheese is 91 calories (7 g of fat).
The bread is about 120 calories for two slices.
Let's say that the turkey is 180 calories (1 g of protein = 4 calories, and there's 45 g of protein in this sandwich).

So if the swiss cheese, the bread, and the turkey are about a total of 391 calories, what is making up the other 329 calories and 20 g of fat?  The lettuce and tomato?   I mean, even if we're counting mayo (which I normally ask to leave off), that's got to be the *fattest* mayo ever!

By all rights, this sandwich should be healthy!  Why is it a complete nutritional disaster??

Update: Thanks to both Kyle Fox and Catherine for pointing out that it's actually the *bread* that is the problem here.  Rather than being 120-180 calories for 2 slices of whole wheat bread, it is actually *360* calories. Kyle has also been good enough to supply the following image illustrating that the mysterious 'slat' ingredient might also have something to do with this ;) (click to enlarge).

Oh boy... 720 calories is MORE than 1/3rd your daily intake??  I think we need a lesson in Math. ;)

Let's start wiht this website:
www.hpathy.com/healthtools/calories-need.asp

It's pretty comprehensive, so assuming someone is 5'10, doing some form of slight physical exercise and in their 30's... let's see.

Well, if you're 125 lbs, the numbers work.  I don't know many men at 125 lbs, nevermind guys (and yes, this site is for males and females).

So, back to the question posed:  why is this a 'complete nutritional disaster'?  Well, it's not Arby's fault... it's Justice's *amazing* math and fraction skills!  Kidding. ;)

BTW:  Does your comments not work with Firefox?  This is the 3rd time I've tried to comment and nothing got left in.

Matthew:

1) I'm leaving a comment with Firefox right now, baby!  Maybe it's just that Firefox doesn't like you!  ;)

2) My daily caloric intake according to this site is something like 3000 calories so I think I'm doing it wrong...I'll try later.

3)  Actually, probably not more than a third but close - I had my daily calories pegged somewhere around 2000 for losing weight.

4) "Assuming...in their 30s" = "Assuming...I'm a dead man walking"

If you're going to cheat, you might as well go all out and get the pastrami burger from Carl's Jr:

If is 760 calories (380 from fat!)

Oooh..that looks so juicy and tasty... ;)

Unhealthy food always tastes so good going down, but never really feels good afterwards.

Man, that does look good and ridiculous at the same time.  Reminds me of that giant omelette sandwich from Burger King that had a pound of meat in it...

@ Steven R, Justice:
Here's a link to that really massive Burger King Breakfast Sandwich.

To summarize: 730 calories, 47grams of fat.  That's... gross.  What's worse is according to the article (could be a US one), it's about $3.00 to have one!  That's absolutely crazy talk!  Think about how many hungry mouths you could feed with all those calories at that price!

@ mrsloquacious and the "Oooooh...Matthew is *so* dead! Justice isn't 30 yet!!!" remark:

...I've just been pwned. ;)
