I Wish These People Updated More Than Once a Year

I've been looking into current browser trends lately as some verification for some projects, and  my search took me to Google Zeitgeist.  I originally thought I had the wrong link - the new Google Zeitgeist seemed to only have information on common search terms, and no longer anything on different OSes and browser types.

Imagine my surprise to find out that Google got rid of their OS statistics and browser statistics back in late 2003/early 2004!  This was an immense disappoint.  I know that there are other sites that do some general tracking (i.e. netcraft, etc.) but nothing that gave a relatively accurate picture of browser trends in North America; after all, I think it's a reasonable assumption to think that a large percentage of the Canada and US population uses Google for their searching.

So, my questions:
1) Does anyone know why this info was taken down?  Is it due to their association with Mozilla, or some other reason I haven't come across while Googling?
2) What site do you use to track browser trends if not Google Zeitgeist?  Has anything popped up in the last couple of years that is noteworthy?
