make jokes at my expense; however, I wanted to wait until my
proper biography and picture were available on the site before I ripped the lid off of this, one of the most earth-shattering, appendix-inflaming announcements of all time. The rumors are true -
Steven Rockarts* and I will be teaming up on
Sept 30, 2006 at Edmonton Code Camp, thus forming the greatest partnership since George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley. What are we calling this team? The Sexy Tigers? The Rampaging Sex Panthers? At this point, the only things I can reveal to you about our presentation are that it will be
Ruby-related (~!!!) and it will be
LIQUID
EXCITEMENT**.
In the event you're wondering what to expect from me as a presenter, I have found two audio clips from previous presentations of mine. The first is from a
previous talk I gave about Ruby, and the second is from
the beginning of my presentation on "How To Win Over A Tough Audience" for Ken McConnell's Vulcan, Alberta user group.
Although September is going to be a busy month for the Edmonton development community (more on that later), I cannot encourage you enough to come out to
Edmonton Code Camp. Whether it is from exploring Ruby's dank crevices or the opportunity to see me potentially crash and burn in front of our largest audience to date, you are
*definitely* going to get your money's worth*** from our presentation alone! And forget about Rockarts and I for a second; the amount of actual talent that's lined up for this sucker is staggering. Just take a look at the other guys that are presenting at Edmonton Code Camp this year. Talk about an all-star cast, and it's all
*free* - this is like LiveAid for developers!! As long as we can avoid Donald belting out "Do They Know It's Christmas" yet
again over the mic, this will pretty much be one of the greatest development events of all time.
* Rockarts' picture on the Edmonton Code Camp site indicates why this partnership was meant to be. It looks like secretgeek has a brand new picture to add to his list of pouty artist types who contribute to Ruby's betterment!
** I have to admit that "The Rampaging Sex Panthers present RUBY~!" has a great ring to it.
